An example of this genre would be the series “Higurashi no Naka Koro ni”(translated When the Cicadas Cry). Published in 2005, this story is set in 1983 in the fictional village of Hinamizawa, following main character Keiichi Maebara who recently moves to Hinamizawa and joins an after school club that consists of his newly found friends Rena Ryugu, Mion Sonozaki, Rika Furude and Sakoto Houjo. This after school club consists of fun activities such as cards or board games that result in the loser, usually our main character, to do light hearted punishments.
All seems well in Hinamizawa that is soon changed after the annual Watanagashi Festival a celebration to commemorate and give thanks to the local god, Oyashiro. Keiichi soon finds out that every year for the past four years, one person goes missing on the evening of the festival, and another murdered. He soon finds himself more and more involved in the strange events that happen that surround both the festival and Oyashiro.
In each story arc, it starts off with Keiichi or one of his friends becoming paranoid with a crime being committed. These crimes usually involve murder that may even include one of their own friends. While it seems impossible to tell apart his or her delusions or the actual mystery of Hinamizawa, the truth is slowly revealed.[LINK] For a wide range of goods straight from Japan including Anime, Manga and Figures, please follow the link below: [LINK]
